Byzantine Music Education Series - January 2009 Meeting

The next Byzantine Music Education meeting will be held at The Graduate Center Department of Ethnomusicology of the City University of New York on Friday January 16 and Saturday January 17, 2009.

Axion Estin Foundation's pedagogical workshops will be led by Dr. Jessica Suchy-Pilalis, Chair of the Department of Music at SUNY-Potsdam, and Nancy Takis.

Dr. Diane Touliatos, Distinguished Professor of Musicology at the University of Missouri, will offer an open to the public lecture on "The Folk Traditions of Byzantine Secular Music and Dance."

Christos Chalkias will offer a Greek Folk Music workshop accompanied by instrumentalists Lefteris Bournias (clarinet), Mavrothi Kontanis (oud).
